Adam and the Ants were one of the most creative and influential bands of the early 80s new wave era. Formed in London in 1977, the band mixed punk attitude, tribal rhythms, and bold visual style. Their sound was sharp, theatrical, and instantly recognizable.

The band released three studio albums during their career. Their debut, Dirk Wears White Sox (1979), introduced a darker post‑punk sound and quickly earned cult status. In 1980, they broke into the mainstream with Kings of the Wild Frontier, a No. 1 UK album that spent twelve weeks at the top of the charts. The record delivered their signature Burundi‑style drums and high‑energy anthems. Their third album, Prince Charming (1981), continued their success with a polished, theatrical pop sound and more hit singles.

Frontman Adam Ant led the band with charisma, style, and a fearless approach to image and performance. His mix of glam, punk, and new wave helped shape early MTV and influenced countless artists.

Adam and the Ants are a perfect fit for New Wave Radio. Their music is bold. Their albums are iconic. Their sound captures the wild, colorful spirit of early 80s new wave.
