Emerging Artists Welcome

We’re Looking for Artists Who Are Building Something Real

NextWave’s emerging-artist program is designed to discover original music and introduce listeners to artists behind the songs. The programming team considers musical fit, originality, broadcast quality, artist activity and the materials supplied with the submission.

✍️

Your Own Song

The submitted work must be original. You must own or control the rights needed to authorize the sound recording and composition for the requested promotional broadcast use.

🎟️

You Perform Live

NextWave currently prioritizes working and touring artists. Include recent or upcoming venues, concerts, festivals or touring dates and supporting links where available.

🔥

You Fit the Station

A strong song still needs the right home. The programming team determines whether the music fits the format, sound and audience of a requested NextWave station.

Submission Requirements

What You Should Have Ready

A complete submission gives the programming team a better picture of the music, the artist behind it and whether the song is ready for consideration.

🎵

Broadcast-Quality MP3

Submit a clean recording suitable for radio review. An optional radio edit can also be supplied where appropriate.

📅

Live Performance Verification

Provide recent or upcoming venues, festival dates, event links, performance proof and a live-performance video when available.

📝

Artist & Song Information

Include your biography, song description, songwriter information, genre, release date, album or EP details and relevant identifiers if available.

📸

Promotional Materials

Have an artist photo, logo and single or album artwork ready so an approved feature can properly introduce you to listeners.

🔗

Artist & Social Links

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Bandcamp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and your official site help the team learn more about your music and audience.

⚖️

Rights & Authorization

You must certify that the work is original and that you or your authorized representative can grant the permissions contained in the submission agreement.

Find the Right Station

Where Could Your Music Fit?

Artists select a primary station in the submission form and can authorize NextWave to consider the song for other compatible stations. Final programming decisions remain with the station team.

Know Before You Submit

Programming Approval Comes First

NextWave’s current program applies the $25 fee only after a submission is approved for programming. The page describes the fee as supporting artist/song setup, audio and programming preparation, website or mobile setup where applicable, scheduling, administration and staff support.

✓
Submission is not acceptance. Completing the form does not guarantee your song will be approved.
✓
Approval precedes the setup fee. The current process calls for programming review before the fee applies.
✓
The fee does not guarantee ongoing rotation. It also does not guarantee chart position, listener response, future airplay or commercial success.
✓
The current featured period is five consecutive days. Continued or future programming remains subject to station decisions and standards.

Make Your Submission Stronger

Present Yourself Like a Working Artist

A professional submission makes it easier for a programming team to understand who you are, what the song is and whether you are ready to be introduced to listeners.

Use a Clean MP3

Submit the strongest radio-ready version of the song and include a clean edit when explicit content is present.

Keep Your Bio Focused

Explain your sound, location, current activity, notable performances and what makes the project distinctive.

Show That You Perform

Provide real venues, event links and live-performance video so the programming team can see the artist beyond the recording.

Use Professional Artwork

Supply a clear artist image, logo and single artwork that can be used if the song is approved for promotional presentation.

Optional: Record a Short Artist Introduction

The current form lets you upload an optional introduction MP3. Keep it natural, short and energetic.

“Hi, we’re [Band Name] from [City/Country], and you’re listening to our song ‘[Song Title]’ on [Station Name].”

Artist Submission FAQ

Questions Before You Send Your Music

What kind of artists does NextWave consider?

NextWave’s current program is aimed at independent artists, songwriters and working or touring bands creating original music. The submission asks for evidence of recent or upcoming live performances, and final acceptance depends on programming standards and station fit.

Does NextWave accept cover songs or tribute bands?

No. The current program is for original artistic work. The submission requires the artist or authorized representative to certify that the recording is not a cover, tribute recording, unauthorized remix or music owned by another party.

Do I need to be actively performing live?

NextWave currently states that it primarily supports working and touring artists and asks applicants to provide recent or upcoming venue information, dates, event links, performance proof and a live-performance video where available.

What audio file should I submit?

The current form requests a broadcast-quality recording and identifies MP3 as the preferred format. It also allows an optional radio edit and an optional artist-introduction MP3.

Does submitting a song guarantee airplay?

No. The current application explicitly states that submission does not guarantee acceptance, airplay, rotation, chart placement, continued broadcasting, listener response, commercial success or future promotion. All music remains subject to programming approval.

When does the $25 setup fee apply?

Under the current program, the one-time $25 artist setup and administrative fee applies to programming-approved submissions. NextWave says the fee supports setup and administrative work including programming preparation, station administration and related artist setup. It does not guarantee permanent rotation, future airplay, chart placement, listener response or commercial success.

How long is an approved song currently featured?

The current NextWave page states that an approved original song is featured and played on the selected station for five consecutive days under the current program. Any additional or future airplay remains subject to station programming decisions.

Can NextWave consider my song for more than one station?

Yes. The current application lets the artist select a primary requested station and choose whether NextWave may consider the song for additional compatible stations.

Do I keep ownership of my music?

The current agreement states that submitted recordings remain the property of the artist or appropriate rights holder, subject to the non-exclusive promotional broadcast rights granted in the agreement. Artists should read the full agreement carefully before signing and seek independent legal advice if they have questions about the rights being granted.

What happens if I am signed to an independent label?

The current application includes a section for independent record-label authorization. If a label controls rights needed for the submission, an authorized representative may need to approve the agreement.

Important: This page summarizes the current submission process for readability. Artists should read the complete Artist’s Original Music Consent and Release Form / Radio Broadcast Agreement presented in the submission form before signing. The complete agreement—not this summary—controls the rights and obligations of the parties.
