Berlin is one of the most influential synth‑pop and new wave bands to emerge from the early 80s. Formed in Los Angeles in 1978, the band blended icy synths, emotional vocals, and bold electronic production. Their sound helped define the new wave movement and shaped the future of electronic pop.

Berlin released their first studio album, Information in 1980, introducing their minimalist synth‑driven style. They broke into the mainstream with Pleasure Victim in 1982, a Platinum‑certified release featuring the hits “The Metro,” “Sex (I’m A…),” and “Masquerade”. The album became a cornerstone of early MTV and pushed Berlin onto the global stage.

Their 1984 album Love Life continued their rise with the hit “No More Words,” earning Gold certification and strong chart success in the U.S. and New Zealand. In 1986, Berlin released Count Three & Pray, featuring the worldwide No. 1 single “Take My Breath Away,” produced by Giorgio Moroder for the Top Gun soundtrack. The song became one of the most iconic ballads of the decade.

Berlin continued releasing music across the years, expanding their catalog with albums such as Transcendance (2019), Strings Attached (2020), and other modern projects that blend nostalgia with fresh production. Terri Nunn’s expressive vocals remain the band’s signature, giving Berlin a timeless emotional edge.
