Crab Island in Florida’s Panhandle

Crab Island is a famous underwater sandbar on the beautiful Emerald Coast on the Gulf of Mexico, midway between Panama City and Pensacola. The sandbar was above water at one time but is now just below the surface, with water depth ranging from one to four feet in most places, making it a haven for boaters to drop anchor and play.

Located on the north side of the Destin Bridge inside Destin’s East Pass from the Gulf of Mexico and entering into Choctawhatchee Bay, it is only accessible by boat. This popular location offers boat rentals in the area to get there, vendors set up with floating restaurants and inflatable play areas, and even floating bands playing to keep you entertained.
